unapologetic

Its FRIDAY!!!!! We made it through the week! I know the week after a holiday is always tough! But we did it! So first a HUGE thank you to this months #TheMessyProject girls! I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls this month! Even though they were all nervous about the shorts, they all went outside of the box, tried something new & they all looked fabulous! So thank you Chantelle, Shanna, Alison & Jenna!

Also thank you to everyone who left sweet comments & defended the anonymous 'hooker' comment. And to that anonymous person - thank you for leaving your comment - you brought a shit load of traffic to my blog....& just so you know I live  about 45 minutes from Hollywood & as they say in Hollywood any publicity is good publicity. So thank you for helping me out!

My favorite Hooker - via

Don't you just love Pretty Woman?! Such a classic.....& speaking of pretty women, today I have a blogger whom I just adore. She is such a sweetheart & so so supportive of MessyDirtyHair. She has been on the blog before, so this time I thought I would have her talk about her new shop since she sells such cute stuff that I know you will all love. If you have yet to follow her, seriously do it. She's wonderful. So without further ado meet

Hey everyone! It's me and I'm back and being messy! This month on Eloping Stethoscope, I got a bit overwhelmed and didn't post as much as I wanted to, but don't worry, I'm going to be posting a lot just as soon as my semester is over and you are not going to want to miss it! If you didn't catch me last month on Kelly' blog, I'm Paige and I blog at Eloping Stethoscope. I live in Memphis, TN with my shiny new husband and I'm in nursing school, striving to graduate with my bachelor degree no later than Dec. 2013. I hope to work in Labor and Delivery when I graduate. I hope you'll join me on my blog to hear all about it!

Why did you decide to start making and selling jewelry?
I started making jewelry a long time ago because I have really small wrists and sensitive ears and a lot of the cute jewelry at stores like Forever 21 were impossible for me to wear. I've always loved crafting, so I figured, why not? Then my friends starting asking me to sell it an the rest is history.

What is your favorite piece and why?
I have to say it's probably the birds on a branch necklace, the never never give up bracelet or the live your dream bracelet! I also love the hair ties that I make.

How do you manage both your shop and being a nurse?
Well, I'm still in school, but I imagine it will be a lot easier being a nurse and managing a shop because when I'm actually working as a nurse, I won't have to worry about studying all the time! Right now though, I make a lot of pieces and then list them slowly or I make pieces that I can easily remake and make them as the orders come in, if that makes sense.
Seriously this girl is Wonder Woman! A nursing student, a blogger & has a jewelry shop...go girl go!! So today the lovely Paigers is offering up some fabulous goodies from her shop PLUS a Starbucks gift card. Take a look---->

Paigers is giving away Custom Hair Ties & your choice of 1 of the 2 bracelets above! Don't you just love the ombre hair ties?!?

#TheMessyProject - Stepping Outside of the Box

its baaaaaaackkkkkkkk!!!!!!

Welcome back to Round 5 of #TheMessyProject!!! If you are new around here & have yet to hear about the project, you can check out all the info HERE..... but here's just a quick little intro to help you get more acquainted to the project  ---->

Sooooo for Novembers group I wanted to do something different. There are 2 girls in the group who write mostly fashion blogs so I wanted to challenge these fellow fashionista's with something different than the usual. Plus I was super excited to have Jenna from the very FIRST Messy Project apart of this months as well so I wanted to challenge her too since this was her second time around.
I went through a few different options until I decided on THE ONE. I knew this was going to be a challenge, even for me but I wanted to spice things up this month. So I am not going to lie, a few of the girls were not very happy with me when they received their item. They were nervous, but I wasn't. I knew the type of girls I had & I knew they could do this! It was just a matter of stepping outside of the box & thinking differently. Considering that it is the holiday season I wanted to also stay with that theme. I wanted to find something fun & festive that the girls could wear to a  holiday party or event.
So I decided on this ---->

Navy Blue Sequins Shorts. Oh yes.
So like I said above this was even a challenge for me. Mainly because I decided to get navy blue & not the typical black. Everything goes with black, so it's much easier to put outfits together. But throwing in a different color changes things up. Nonetheless, after going through my closet & trying on a few different options I finally came to my decision as to how I was going to style these shorts....& I don't know why but every time I go to style my outfit for #TheMessyProject it always turns into some type of theme. So for this round I feel like my outfit had kind of a British feel to it. See for yourself ----->

So as you can see I decided to put tights with the shorts so they could have more of a winter feel to them. I didn't want to do just plain tights so I got ones with some simple white dots on them. Then I added a navy & white stripped top to match the shorts. I wanted the shorts to be the main item so I tucked the top in & hiked up the shorts a little bit.
Then I added short black boots. I know what you're thinking, black & blue what?!?!? But yes, it is okay to mix & match blue & black. I mean did you think I was going to wear matching navy shoes? That's just too 'matchy matchy' for me....& to finish off the look I kept it simple & added gold bangles & a statement gold ring. Remember less is more.
So I was having so much fun with this look that I decided to add some more pieces of clothing to take this party outfit outside. So I added a jacket & a red scarf to add some more color!

And just because I am wearing sequins shorts it doesn't mean I can't add some winter accessories like a scarf or GLOVES to the outfit.

Can you tell I had a lot of fun with this outfit? And as you can see just because they're shorts doesn't mean they can't be worn during the winter. Personally, I think they're the perfect holiday party outfit. Its fun, festive & something original.
I feel like this round of the project was a great example of stepping outside of the box & trying something new. So how would you have styled the shorts?
What to see how the other girls styled their sequin shorts!? Check 'em out & show them some love

that's illegal....

hello loves & how are we today!? So I am wondering, what are your thoughts on customer service? Coming from Nordstrom we are taught customer service is EVERYTHING  so I expect to have good customer service when I am out. However, the other day at Starbucks was a different story ----> I was about the 3rd person in line. Only one person was behind me. Its the holiday weekend so everyone should assume its going to be busy. They only had 1 girl at the register & she was new. Which was mistake #1. Do not train new people during the busy times.

There was a mom & daughter getting rang up & they were buying a ton of Starbucks stuff. The line started to get longer. There was 1 person making drinks & 1 person taking orders. Mistake #2. When you see the line starting to get long & stop moving, you need to stop taking drink orders & help on the register. That did not happen. So while this line was getting out of control.... (I understand when it's busy but trust me the line that started to form was getting bad)

The people at the register buying all the stuff were making things difficult for the new girl on the register by paying with different cards. The man in front of me was yelling about his sandwich being cold. People behind me were getting out of line & leaving even though their drink order was already taken. I could tell things were escalating.

I know everyone who works at my local Starbucks. I mean, I go there enough it's bound to happen. So while all of this commotion was going on I called in the back for the assistant manager. I told him that this line was getting out of control & that someone had to come out & help on the registers. Seeing that I was right, he told the drink taker to get on registers & he helped with drinks. The line finally started to move & things got going. However, I thought it was bad business that I had to say something to a manager about what he needed to do to get this line going & calm all the angry customers.

So after getting my stuff I left Starbucks, got in my car & closed the door when all of a sudden the mom from the Starbucks line who was buying all that stuff - comes up to my window, looks at me & does the 'you're crazy motion while mouthing you're nuts'.....then continues to get in front of my car so I can't drive anywhere. I was appalled. So I'm nuts because I spoke up & asked for more help but she's not nuts for waiting for me to leave Starbucks & come up to my window. It would be one thing if I actually said something to her & her daughter in Starbucks, but I didn't. I didn't even mention them.

So of course I got out of the car & mouthed off a little, because the bitch would not move. It really was bizarre. Thankfully she finally moved & I drove off. But I couldn't believe what I had just encountered. Can you? Has anyone else dealt with this kind of behavior before?

TRUTH - via

okay so moving on from the craziness, today I have someone very special for you to meet! I have been a fan of her blog for awhile & I can really relate to a lot of things she writes about. She has a fun & sassy personality that just draws you in & makes you want to be friends with her. She loves to shop & loves fashion. Plus she has a super cool job & I like to think of her as Elle. Wondering what I'm talking about? Well without further ado meet

Hi ya’ll! Uber excited to be coming to you from Kelly’s blog today! I’m Lynn and I blog over at Illegally Blonde! I am a self-professed Elle Woods. I am a blonde, ex-beauty queen, turned litigation attorney. I live in Fort Worth, Texas and love my TCU Horned Frogs! I blog about life as a young associate who is balancing work, life and being a wife!

Kelly posed some great questions to me so without further ado:

If it was my last day on earth, I would max out my credit card on shoes and purses, and eat a bite of every flavor of cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory!
If I could have one super power it would be bionic hearing! I’d love to know what goes on beyond closed doors in this office.

Hmm, one thing you don’t know about me…. I have my black belt in Karate!

So….. a good attorney knows two things:

1. Where the closest Starbucks is

and

2. How to apply makeup in under 5 minutes!

That’s why I’m offering you all a $25 Starbuck’s giftcard and $25 to Sephora!!! (I cannot live without either.)

Have a splendid day y’all and come check me out!
Is she not the coolest!? And I LOVE her answer to the last day on earth question. Its totally what I would do too - SHOP! Plus can you believe what she is giving away!? Two of my favorite things as well....she's a girl after my own heart.

ticket bitch

oh hello there Monday, we meet yet again. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving & for those of you who went shopping on Black Friday, I hope you all got your deals! You can read all about my Thanksgiving HERE .

So the Holiday's are in full swing now! I finally brought out my Michael Buble Christmas CD & haven't taken it off. Its funny, I'm not really a Micheal Buble fan at all, but for some reason I love the way he sings Christmas songs. I think its because he sounds a little like Frank Sinatra & I love his classic voice. However, my favorite Christmas song  EVER is defiantly without a doubt 'All I Want for Christmas is You' by Mariah Carey. I am obsessed with that song! What is your favorite Christmas song?
Linking up with Leanne of Join the Gossip & Dana of Five30Three for Weekend Update!
Over the weekend my town has this adorable fun holiday kick off event downtown called 'Bringing on the Glitz'. They close down the street & all the shops & boutiques stay open later. They have booths of food & crafts all along the street as well as food & drinks inside each of the stores. My mom sells vintage pieces, furniture, accessories & clothes at one of the stores on del mar street so I got to help out. I was in charge of food tickets, so I was everybody's best friend. Who doesn't love free food & drinks?!

ticket bitch
My mom to the left w/ a fellow worker & on the right is the owners husband serving up the drinks!
I look forward to this event every year. They really go all out. Everything is all lit up with Christmas lights & there are carolers singing. Even Santa makes an appearance in the parade!

After I was done being ticket bitch, I had to stop by my favorite boutique - Lincoln Street & say hello! Speaking of Lincoln Street - have you seen all the freaking cute items they're getting in right now?! I am dying over everything! They ship everywhere, so I highly recommend following them on Instagram to keep up with all the new products she gets in daily....plus you might see some pictures of me modeling the goods as well. Their instagram name is - LincolnStreetBoutique...follow them, you can thank me later.

Left to Right - Mendy, the owner of Lincoln Street & Haley a sales girl, Wendy & I,  Mendy & I...seriously I love her. Not only is she an amazing buyer because everything in the store is fabulous, but she's also a great friend with a huge heart.  & then Haley & I at Lincoln Street.

My sister even came back for the event. We ate, we drank, we shopped! It was the perfect holiday kick off!

\
Pic on the left is my telling my sister, "ok no more pictures!!" hahaha

I kept my outfit pretty basic - black poncho, black leggings, knit hat & you can't tell from the pictures but it's sparkly & I finished off the look with these fabulous new boots I scored at Target!!!! Fun Fact: Target had their Black Friday deals out a week before actual Black Friday - remember that for next year. So I am super excited about this purchase because to be honest I never find amazing shoe deals at Target. Every time they have something fabulous I am too late, so because I did my black Friday Target shopping BEFORE black Friday I was able to score these babies ----->

Black short boots with a glitter back - yessss please!
I am telling you now, there is going to be a lot of Christmas talk around here so if you're a Grinch, I suggest not coming by my blog for the next month....I'm sorry I can't help it, it's my favorite time of the year! But that's enough holiday talk for today. So instead I have a very fun girl for you all to meet. I love her blog, but what I love even more is how honest & real she is. She's got a feisty vibe to her that I love. Plus she's adorable & has some awesome hair. So without further ado meet

I'm Mandy from Pretty Little Endeavors. My blog is a lifestyle blog with no rules and absolutely no sugarcoating. I started blogging as a way to document my life as it is and I enjoy keeping it that way and connecting with people who can relate to all of my little endeavors. I'm a sassy girl with a big heart and an extreme shopping addiction. I was born and raised in Michigan but, I was made for Nashville.

Its your last day on earth - what do you do?

I would spend every second with the people I love. I'd take as many risks as I could and face all of my fears.

What is the story behind your blog name?

I wish I had an interesting story behind my blog name. My blog used to be "Barbie Girl" because everyone used to tell me I looked like Barbie. Then I died my hair back dark and decided I needed to change things up and make my blog more about my life and all of the many endeavors along the way.

Whats one thing we don't know about you that you think we should?

In general, the one thing I wish people knew about me is there is so much more than meets the eye. People often tell me they're shocked at how different I am from who they thought I was because I "look like a mean girl".
Gotta love a girl who tells it as it is & doesn't sugarcoat....& today Mandy is giving away a $15 Amazon Giftcard!!!! It is so great to have all these fun giftcard giveaways right around the Holidays, it can really help when buying gifts, so thank you Mandy & to all my messy girls who have provided my readers with some wonderful giveaways!

the time has come.....

helllllo lovers & Happy BLACK Friday!!!! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving & ate your little butts off! My Thanksgiving was simple & perfect. It was just my sister, mom & me this year.....& well you know 4 cats & 2 dogs...oh wait I'm sorry 6 cats. My sister brought her twin cats over as well to celebrate with the family. It is defiantly animal farm over here...& I love it.
In the morning we went to Starbucks, got warm drinks so we could have the Christmas Cups (duh) & then took the dogs to the beach. It was such a beautiful day. The weather was warm & the sun was out. I wished it was a lot cooler than is was because I am so so sick of dressing for the warm weather, so I just pretended it was cold outside & dressed for that.....#fashionistaproblems

After running around & sitting on the beach, we came home & watched Oprah's Favorite Things. I was super excited that even though the show is over she still wanted to continue with her favorite things extravaganza.....& I was even more excited because the audience was filled with only military wife's & God knows they deserve it, so I was happy to see them get everything. Even though I enjoyed watching the process of Oprah choosing & deciding her favorite things, I was disappointed in the way she presented everything to the women. It just felt awkward & it didn't have the same exciting feel as it usually does....but nonetheless, it was wonderful to see the smiles on all the military wife's.

While my mom cooked our dinner we had some appetizers which included the usual veggies & dip, cheese, pickles, pasta salad, shrimp & more. My mom decorated our dining room table so pretty. It was the perfect Thanksgiving Shabby Chic decor.....& our dinner turned out fabulous!!! We had turkey, mash potatoes & gravy, green beans, corn, rolls & pumpkin pie....all my favorites. It was delicious.

& we ended the night watching Lifetime movies together. It was perfect.....& now today I am baring the crowds & shopping on black Friday. To be honest I'm not going to get any deals, I just love being at the mall on this day because its' all decorated & there is so much excitement & holiday spirit in the air....sooo &speaking of excitement I am excited about the fabulous girls I have here today giving away some pretty awesome stuff! So sit back, grab a cup of coffee, meet some new bloggers & enter to win some fun prizes!!!! So without further ado meet my
