7 Wardrobe Fashion Staples To Have This Fall

via

Fall is such a wonderful season. I love the magical transitional period from summer into winter. With the season changing to cooler weather and wetter days; it is the perfect excuse to bring back your layers in preparation for the colder months ahead. Plus add a few new staple pieces as well to boost your wardrobe for the fall season. However, from a fashion perspective, fall can be a challenging time to dress for; so here are 7 fashion staples to have in your wardrobe to keep you prepared for any occasion.

1.) A Basic White T-Shirt
I cannot express this enough; a basic t-shirt is a staple that everyone should have in their wardrobe and it will span across all of the seasons. A white t-shirt is the perfect base layer no matter the weather and looks just as good under layers as it does out in the open. Pair a basic white T with dark jeans, boots and a jacket for an effortless fall look or layer it up with a scarf and statement jewelry and sweater for something more sophisticated.

2.) A Leather Jacket
I am obsessed with my leather jacket. It literally goes with everything. You can dress it up or down, and pretty much goes with anything. A good quality leather jacket is a must have for the fall season, offering enough protection and warmth from the fickle weather but also being lightweight and easy to wear if the sun does pop out. For maximum versatility, stick to a basic black or brown jacket with simple detailing.

3.) Cozy Boots
Personally I am a boot girl all year long. I love boots. I love wearing them in the summer with shorts and jeans. But boots really come into their own in the fall season and it’s the perfect time to crack out those you’ve had stashed away over the summer months. A good pair of ankle boots are perfect for everyday wear and a statement over the knee boot adds a touch of glamour to any night out.

4.) A Leather Bag
Leather and faux leather are such great materials for the fall season, offering a bit more protection from unexpected rain whilst also pairing perfectly with the autumn golden color scheme. Finding the perfect everyday leather bag is a must for the fall season; try to find some that are both stylish and functional such as the Dutch leather bags which are known for their practicality without sacrificing their aesthetic.

5.) A Statement Scarf
As the air begins to hold more of chill a statement scarf is the perfect autumn accessory to add a bit of warmth to an outfit. Go for a pattern or color to add a little something to a simple outfit or opt for a chunky knit to add a little texture. Adding a scarf is the perfect item to jazz up any outfit.

6.) Metallic Jewelry
A lot of autumn fashion is very soft, so why not add a little intrigue by wearing a glimmer of gold or silver? Bracelets, necklaces and earrings can take an everyday outfit from day to night whilst also providing a little sparkle to a dreary day.

7.) The Perfect Pair of Jeans
No fall wardrobe would be complete without the perfect pair of jeans. I love jeans. All color jeans - blue, black, grey. I cannot get enough. Finding the perfect pair of jeans will depend a little on your own style but whether it is a simple pair of skinny jeans, mauve mom jeans or fabulous flairs your jeans will be the core of many an autumn outfit, so find a style that suits you and invest in a good quality pair to last you through the season.

Hacks that will Spice Up Your Dated Wardrobe

via

With the fall season upon us, it is the perfect time to update your wardrobe for the new season. You don’t have to break the bank to look good either. Here are a few quick and simple tips and tactics that will spring your wardrobe back to life.

Check the Fit
You need to examine every single piece of clothing that you have, even your bathing suits and underwear. When you have done this, you then need to make sure that it fits properly. If you have clothing items that just don’t seem to be working, then now is the time for you to get rid of it. I realized after many years of cleaning out my closet; that I always feel better about adding new things when I have given the old, out of date pieces away. However, I totally understand there are those certain pieces you just can’t give up. But what I they don’t fit anymore? Well then you can have those pieces tailored. Cleaning out your closet and going over the fit and style of clothing is a fantastic way for you to downsize your wardrobe so that you can invest in new, quality pieces.

Stay Organized
Now lets pull everything out of your closet and organize your clothing. It really helps to visualize everything that you actually have. When you do, there’s a high chance you will find endless outfits that you have forgotten about entirely. Some advice that helps when organizing your closet is to keep seasonal items together. For example, keep all sweaters together, not mixed in with tank tops. This will make finding clothes way easier and it will also help you to stop taking hours to get dressed in the morning.  Once you have everything organized how you like it you can start putting together outfits and take your wardrobe to the next level.

Get Crafty
One way for you to inject life back into your old wardrobe and save money would be for you to take a pair of scissors and cut a larger opening at the top of the t-shirt. This will show off much more shoulder and it will also make it easier for you to get that vintage look. You might also want to get a needle and create a fun button-down shirt. This will help you to create something that is totally unique too, and it will also make it much easier for you to reuse your older items. Not into crafting your own clothes? No worries, with the fall season upon us the stores are buzzing with new merchandise. PLUS you might even be able to pick up some discounts by shopping for Black Friday deals too, so keep an eye out for those.

It’s All About the Accessories
One of my favorite and easiest ways to spice up your wardrobe is to add accessories. So you don’t break the bank invest in cheaper necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Once you do, you will see how simple you can jazz up any outfit and that you can also do it on a budget. If you have an old bag, why not add some badges, patches or even strips of material? This will transform it into something completely new and it will also give you the chance to cater it to the outfit you are wearing, and you may even find that you are able to mix and match too.

Colors
I love colors. My closet is organized by color. One of the reasons I organize by color is so it's easy for me when putting together outfits. Black is one of my favorite colors to wear, but if you have different colored tops, then why not mix and match them with jeans, or even suit pants? It's okay to take a risk and have fun.

Sometimes you just need to stop wearing the same outfit all the time because you will find that your outfit becomes stale and you get in a clothing rut. Don't let that happen to you. Be bold, be daring and have a single-person fashion show in front of the mirror. You’ll thank yourself for it.

Totes Awks? Buying for that Teenage Niece

via

Everybody has a morning routine. When you are going through your morning routine that you fine-tuned, choosing the right clothes and making your look just right; think about how long have you been doing this for? No doubt it was something you started when you were a teenager because there was an abundance of acne, and you just felt fat in everything ha ha am I right? However, what do you do when it comes to buying the perfect birthday present for a fashion-wise teenage niece? Or what if you're trying to buy for a friend's child? We spend years perfecting our look, but once we start to get into the minefield that is buying for a teenager we can feel in over our heads; how can we buy a perfect fashion-oriented gift for a teenager?

Don't Think About What You Want
Yes, you were a teenager not so long ago, but tastes change! Instead, try to get the right information from the parent, but beware, this can also yield the wrong results. Sometimes you've got to go for some inspiration. Look at their fashion choices, and try to complement what they've already got. There are websites like Top Family Stocks that provide premium fashion clothing for every member of the family. So at the very least, you can find something for a specific age range.

Get To Pinterest
It's all about looking for contemporary fashions; but also think about the type of person they are. If it's your niece, you think that you know them to an extent, but a teenager, as you very well know, can change their style with the sequence of the moon. So, think about what they've already got, complimenting it, and also get inspiration to expand their wardrobe. The right Pinterest board works wonders. And if they’ve got their own Pinterest board, it's a quick and easy option. The great thing is, everybody advertises their wants and needs and social media. Get stalking; it might be the only way that you get a clue!

Don't Necessarily Think "Fashion"
You might want to go for something that makes a big impact or is very stylish, but it's always about thinking outside of the box. Look at the home comforts; perhaps a dressing gown or something similar will be useful? Or think about their make-up. Maybe they don't have decent products? So think about something like a MAC kit or another high-end brand. We can find ourselves in over our heads as far as fashion choices are concerned, so maybe we need to shun this entirely?

Dare You Ask Them?
When we remember back to being a teenager, we had very particular choices. So instead, rather than the element of surprise, go and ask them! If there is something that you wanted for a long time but it's too expensive, you can be the savior. Asking them what they want is is a perfect way to bypass all the stress. Sometimes buying for someone else is one of those difficult things, especially when it comes to fashion. So sometimes we just need to avoid the element of surprise.

Going Cruelty Free

Going cruelty-free, no matter how long you have been using makeup is doing the right thing. Animals do not need to suffer for us to feel or look beautiful and, the more access we have to information, the more people have made the change. There are no hard and fast rules about how you go cruelty-free, though.

Bunny

The bunny isn’t the be-all and end-all. Sadly many companies will add bunnies to their packaging, but they are the legitimate one. So pay attention to the packaging when you are making a purchase. This goes double if you like to buy new brands and dupes online.

The real cruelty-free bunny, the leaping bunny, means they have been tested and approved by a regulating body - which has standards to be met.

China

This can be tricky. Terminology matters. If you tweet a company and ask if their products are made in China, and they say ‘no,’ that doesn’t mean anything other than their warehouse is elsewhere. If you ask, the more specific ‘do you sell your products in China, do you sell X product there?’ If the answer is yes they sell there it is not going to be cruelty-free. Brands have to opt-out of selling in China to be genuinely cruelty-free. Chinese laws mean that makeup brands who sell there are required by law to test products on animals in order to trade in mainland China.

E.U.

This doesn’t mean that you are safe just by shopping E.U. brands. There is a ban on the marketing and sales of makeup that has been tested on animals in the E.U. However, many makeup brands are international - meaning this doesn’t apply to them at all. So they are free to test on animals elsewhere and then sell anywhere they like. You can tweet the brands for more information, or do some research online to find what you need.

Ingredients

Semantics again, but they will still make a difference if you are asking a brand directly. If you ask them, are their ‘products cruelty-free?’ They can pretty much say yes. There is no real, in stone, definitions of cruelty-free. But if you ask ‘are your ingredients tested on animals?’ that is a yes or no reply.

Replacing

When you start making the switch, don’t rush to do it all at once. Swap out product by product to give yourself time to adjust to using new shades and formulas. When you see that you are coming to the end of say, foundation, start looking for samples from cruelty-free brands. So that when the time comes you won’t waste money buying shades that don’t match. It is essential that when you are switching to cruelty-free, that you remember that some of your current brushes are animal hair. It is probably just time to invest in a gorgeous synthetic eye brush set instead.

Have fun! There is nothing as exciting as finding new brands to test out when you are a makeup lover, especially when it involves saving animals.
