Real talk; do you ever find yourself explaining your decision or feeling guilty when you haven’t done anything wrong or generally feeling bad? It’s not an ideal situation to feel as though you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and there are certain things we all need to let go of to live a happier life. Here are some examples.
Your Appearance
When you look good on the outside it really does help you to
feel good on the inside; & it’s not about being shallow or vain. It’s about
building self-esteem, confidence and living in a way that’s authentic to you.
When you feel good about your appearance you’re happy to be ‘you’; you’re not
held back by insecurity or doubt. Don't be afraid to try out some new styles; treat yourself to
some new clothes and makeup. Go to the salon and have your hair done, make a
change to something you love. You don’t have to be glammed up to the nines
every day but you want to know you can make yourself look nice when you choose
to. No one looks like the women in beauty magazines (even the models themselves are
heavily airbrushed) so stop comparing yourself to others, just be the best
version of you. Embrace it.
The Way You Spend Your Time
When it comes to our friends and family, most of us are
always going to be there to help. If they need us for something, no matter how
inconvenient; chances are, we’ll put them first as we know they’d do the same
for us. However, there has to be limits. Sometimes even well meaning friends and family can take advantage of our good nature, and if you’re the sort
of person that struggles saying no or putting yourself first then this can be
an issue. It's okay to say no. Don’t be afraid to turn down plans or to generally prioritize
yourself , especially if it’s going to impact your mental health. Your time is precious; help others but ensure there are limits and boundaries. If you have a hobby or
something you like doing, don’t feel bad about it. Not everyone will understand
your passion; as long as you’re still meeting all of your commitments then it’s
no ones business how you spend your free time.
Taking Time To Relax and Do Nothing
We spend so much time rushing around that sitting down and
relaxing can feel like an unnecessary luxury. Having time to relax and do nothing is actually good for you. Relaxation
is key to your mental health and what better way to relax than to pamper
yourself- soak in a hot bath, paint your nails, do a face mask. Light some
scented candles or pour some oils in your wax burner- click here to buy fragrance oils online. Don’t feel bad about taking some time
each day (or whenever you can) for yourself. It doesn’t make you selfish, a bad
parent or a bad person. We all need a little escape and a chance to clear our
minds and relax, so grab the opportunity with both hands when it presents
itself.
