hippie look

Jean Shorts: Hollister  Ring: Lucky Brand
sooo in honor of yesterday being the first day of spring i decided to bring out one of my favorite spring & summer items - JEAN SHORTS! seriously you can't go wrong with a pair of jean shorts....they're just so versatile...you literally can do anything with them -  my jean shorts have rips in them, another obsession of mine - destroyed jeans - but i think that's from my many years of working at both HCO & Aber...& of course the jean shorts i am wearing i have had forever...i highly recommend jean shorts from Hollister or Abercrombie because they really do last forever....so i added a special flare to mine by adding another pair of biker boots that i have..these are different from the Steve Madden...these are shorter & don't have as much going on as my other ones, which makes them perfect for jean shorts.

now as you know i love baggy stuff, especially baggy sweaters or jackets...the sweater i am wearing is one of my NEW purchases for my summer wardrobe....my sweater is from an adorable & trendy boutique called Angel Wings,  they have a lot of Free People as well as other designers that may not be in main stream department stores. Shopping at boutiques is one of my favorites things because you can find one of a kind items that you can't find in department stores. The buyers for Angel Wings are FABULOUS! I love everything in that store from the clothing, to the accessories to the shoes! Its very fun, funky & has a hippie feel to it, which is my favorite....did i tell you i wish i was a hippie?

Sweater: Angel Wings
what i loved about this sweater was the intricate design of the sleeves & the bottom....it really adds an extra flare to the sweater, giving it a 70s feel...not to mention the orange color is the perfect amount of POP...now i know you're thinking sweater in the summer? huh? ....of course not on those super hot days but on days with a nice breeze i love just wearing a plain tank, jean shorts & throwing on a open sweater, its casual yet chic...plus the material of this sweater isn't wool, it's very soft & airy....another thing cool about this sweater is its long in the front & short in the back, so it doesn't drown me out.
since the sweater is my main piece of clothing for this look i just wore a black tank top also from Angel Wings, the tank top is ribbed & spandex material....i like the ribbed tank top adding another small detail to my look.... if you haven't noticed i tend to pick one piece of clothing & work my outfit around that....as usual my hair is just down & messy...however that's only day 2 of no washing or brushing, & no makeup....natural is where its at!

my jewelry is my typical daily jewelry from Tiffany & Co...I'm def not one to be constantly changing my jewelry up, i love classic pieces that i can wear with everything...sure its fun to add a statement necklace, huge ring or some fun dangling earrings & i do with particular outfits, but not with everything because sometimes LESS IS MORE.....i can't tell you the amount of girls i see that just pound on the accessories ( unless you are wearing something SO plain then layer them on) but...newsflash: it ruins your outfit & i, personally get distracted by everything else that is going on to actually focus on what you're wearing...so please girls remember LESS IS MORE...it doesn't make you trendy or a fashionista by displaying every single piece you own...it makes you look like you're trying too hard & that isn't what style is about.....but that's just my opinion.

so will you incorporate a cool sweater into your summer wardrobe? do you feel less is more? i would love to know your thoughts!

Tank: Angel Wings

Boots: Nordstrom Rack, Brand: MIA

oh & say hello one of my cats, Dolce, peeking through in the back..Dolce is the queen of the animals...you will def be learning a lot more about her...she is one of a kind let me tell you.......

Your hippie look makes me happy. I love hippies.

I named my blog "Glam Kitten's Litter Box" because someone once paid me the compliment of calling me a "glam kitten." When I was thinking of a name for my website, that popped into my head. Naturally, my mind made the connection of "kitten" and "litter box." And my followers are my little turds. HA.

You look amazing!! I so agree with you too - you can dress up jean shorts and wear them with heels, wear them with tights, boots, flats, sandals - sooo versatile! I love how you wore them here!

When did you work for Abercrombie? I use to be aboard that ship too...

The hippie chic look is always great for warm weather. And you are so right with the accessories. One statement piece or a couple small pieces should be it. Less is more is what hippie chic is all about!
